What are veneers?

Veneers are wafer-thin shells (usually made of porcelain or a ceramic) that are cemented securely to your prepared teeth to improve your appearance.

When can veneers be used?

Veneers can be used to treat a variety of different problems:

Heavily stained teeth that cannot be improved by tooth whitening can be masked and look beautiful.
Crooked teeth can be correctly instantly with veneers giving a perfectly aligned smile. This however is not the ideal treatment for crooked teeth. The best option would probably be tooth straightening.
Natural gaps between your teeth can be closed giving you a more uniform smile with no large gaps.
Severely worn, damaged or chipped teeth can be beautifully restored to perfect looking teeth instantly with veneers. Smaller chips can be repaired simply with white fillings.

What is involved?

The initial consultation:

At your initial consultation, Dr. Varaich likes to listen to what your goals are for your smile, what you are conscious of or embarrassed by, and what concerns you have, so that your treatment can be individually tailored to you. Dr. Varaich will show you pictures of cases similar to yourself, and show you the results she has achieved with other people. If you prefer, we can even arrange for you to speak to patients who have had this done, so that you may ask them how they found their experience.

The preparation of your teeth for veneers:

The teeth are prepared by removing a tiny part from the front surface of your teeth. An impression (mould) is then taken and sent to a laboratory. Temporary veneers are then placed over your teeth to ensure you can still smile confidently!

The next appointment is usually one to three weeks later. The temporary veneers are removed, and the permanent veneers are initially just sat over your teeth so that you and Dr. Varaich can make sure you are completely satisfied with the shape, colour, length and look of the veneers.

The veneers are then securely cemented to the teeth and polished to leave a beautiful, straight and dazzling white smile!
