| Our Hygienists |
Highly coloured food and drinks, such as curries, red wine, tea, coffee, and smoking can cause unsightly stains on our teeth, which we are unable to remove by simple tooth brushing alone.
Good home-care and regular visits to a hygienist prevent the formation of plaque – a sticky film of bacteria, which can harden to form tartar and cause gum disease. Without regular visits with a hygienist, you are at a much higher risk of losing your teeth to gum disease in later life.
Gum disease can progress without any signs or symptoms, so most people, unfortunately are not aware they have the disease until the much later stages when the teeth become loose. In some cases, gums can be sore, swollen, and bleed easily when brushing. Gaps may also develop between your teeth, and the teeth can drift into unsightly positions.
